You’re making money on OnlyFans and the idea of handling your taxes freaks you out a little? Breathe. Whether you make €200 or €10,000 a month, taxation for creators isn’t that complicated. You just need to know the rules.
Is OnlyFans income taxable in France?
Yes. From the very first euro. The French tax office makes no exception for content platforms. €50 or €50,000 a month, you have to declare it.
And no, there’s no magic threshold below which you’re off the hook. “How much can I earn without declaring?” Zero. Any regular income has to be declared.
If you’re just starting out, our guide to becoming an OnlyFans creator also covers the admin side.
How to declare your OnlyFans income
Step one: set up a professional status. Most creators choose the auto-entrepreneur status (micro-entreprise, the French simplified sole-trader scheme). It’s the simplest option.
What does that look like in practice?
- Create your status: Go to autoentrepreneur.urssaf.fr and register an activity as “création artistique” (artistic creation) or “prestations de services” (provision of services)
- Get your SIRET: Your business ID number takes 1 to 4 weeks to arrive
- Declare your turnover: Every month or quarter on the URSSAF website
- Annual return: You report your income as BNC (Bénéfices Non Commerciaux, i.e. non-commercial profits) on your income tax return
Setup: less than an hour. After that, it’s 10 minutes a month, tops.

Which tax regime should you choose?
This directly affects what stays in your pocket. There are two main options:
Micro-BNC
The most common one. As long as you stay under €77,700 a year, you get a 34% flat-rate allowance. You only pay tax on 66% of what you earn.
Concrete example: €30,000 of OnlyFans income → €19,800 taxable after the allowance.
Régime réel (actual-expenses regime)
Worth it if your expenses exceed 34% of your turnover. Camera gear, software, outfits, studio decor… You deduct everything, but you need to keep proper accounts.
My advice
Start with micro-BNC. Simple, no headaches. When your income climbs and you have a lot of expenses, that’s when you see an accountant to check whether the actual-expenses regime is worth it.

URSSAF and social contributions
On top of income tax, there are URSSAF contributions (URSSAF is the French body that collects social security contributions). They fund your social protection: health insurance, pension, all that.
How much does it cost?
As a micro-entreprise: roughly 21 to 22% of your turnover. Paid every month or quarter.
An example
On €1,000 earned:
- URSSAF contributions: ~€220
- What’s left: ~€780 (before income tax)
Good to know: if you’re just starting, ACRE (a start-up relief scheme) can cut your contributions by 50% in the first year. You have to apply for it.

Where your money goes: URSSAF + taxes
VAT: does it apply to you?
Probably not. Most creators benefit from the VAT exemption threshold (franchise de TVA): no VAT to charge or pay back as long as you stay under €36,800 of annual turnover.
If you go over
That’s where it gets complicated:
- You charge 20% VAT
- You pay it back to the State
- You need an intra-EU VAT number
At that point, an accountant becomes genuinely useful. Some creators work with an OnlyFans management agency that also handles the admin.
Avoiding a tax reassessment
The tax office is keeping a closer and closer eye on platform income. Here’s what can cost you dearly:
The classic mistakes
- Declaring nothing: OnlyFans passes information to the authorities. You’ll get caught.
- Wrong category: Declaring as BIC (commercial profits) instead of BNC = penalties.
- Skipping URSSAF: Contributions are mandatory, not negotiable.
- Mixing everything up: Open a dedicated bank account. Seriously.
What works
- Keep all your supporting documents (OnlyFans statements, invoices)
- Declare every month, even when it’s not much
- Set aside 30 to 40% of your income for charges
- In doubt? Consult a chartered accountant
